To help people stay connected via online games, Facebook Gaming, the gaming platform of the social-media giant, has recently announced a new “Tournament” feature. This feature essentially lets users/gamers play a tournament of any online game with friends or competitors.
The social media giant took it to Twitter to announce the launch of the new “Tournaments” feature in their gaming platform. According to the tweet, the feature comes as an early access form to help people stay connected with each other amidst the ongoing Coronavirus-led global lockdowns.
“Social distancing means we have to be apart, but games can still bring us together. So today we’re opening early access to Facebook Gaming tournaments, a feature to help people stay connected through games.”, read the tweet by Facebook Gaming.
This new feature will let gamers and streamers create their own virtual tournaments on the platform. There are various formats for the tournaments and as the feature is integrated into Facebook Gaming, streamers who create a tournament can play the tournament matches while streaming online. This new feature will also allow players and viewers to donate funds to significant causes with the help of a charity tool integrated within the platform.
The feature is already live on the gaming platform. There is a new “Tournaments” tab with two sub-sections – “Your Tournaments” and “Suggested Tournaments”. The “Your Tournaments” section shows the tournaments that the user has created. On the other hand, the “Suggested Tournaments” section shows any live tournament that might interest the user.
