OnePlus TV Might Soon Launch in India

Home News Tech OnePlus TV Might Soon Launch in India

Back in September last year, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau took to the OnePlus forums to announce a new product — the OnePlus TV. Since then, OnePlus hasn’t talked a lot about it, other than the company saying that the TV might arrive in India in 2020.

However, if you’ve been waiting for the OnePlus TV, a new leak might rekindle your hopes to see the TV this year itself. According to leakster Ishan Aggarwal, the Chinese company might be planning to launch the OnePlus TV in India very soon.

In his tweet, he said, “Have some good news for you all: The OnePlus TV is not very far away, at least according to one source. The launch might be soon, so stay tuned. I have very high expectations from it, what about you?”

In a follow-up tweet, he mentions that the OnePlus TV will not use an OLED panel. That might be a cost-cutting decision to compete in a market saturated by the likes of Xiaomi’s Mi TVs.

While we don’t know a lot about the OnePlus TV so far, rumors and reports surrounding the product claim that the TV might feature 4K HDR support, and there may well be an AI assistant as well (Google Assistant, most likely). Apart from that, there are also reports that the OnePlus TV will launch in India as an Amazon exclusive product.

Either way, it’ll be exciting to see whether OnePlus goes with an OLED or an LCD panel on its TV, and how aggressively the company prices it when it launches in India. Personally, I think it’ll be important for OnePlus to compete against the Mi TVs, so the company might stick with LCD panels, but what do you think? Let us know in the comments.
