The Thai Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has approved the country’s first initial coin offering (ICO) portal to police the issuance of digital, blockchain-based tokens. The portal is almost ready to launch and is awaiting final approval from other government agencies like the Commerce Ministry, the Bangkok Post reports. But with the SEC‘s approval it marks a notable step forward to becoming operational. According to the report, around seven companies were in the running to provide the platform, but it’s just one foreign firm that will be responsible for its delivery.
