Home News Tech Google Search Now Shows You Relevant Subtopics Right On Top

Earlier this year in January, Google detailed its plans to greatly improve Search and present more relevant information to its users through its featured snippets feature. While the featured snippets feature has been around for a while now, the company has been looking to provide even more comprehensive search results right on the top of the first page.

Google Search has now introduced a new type of featured snippet which shows you even more relevant subtopics around your search terms.

Google Search Featured Snippet

In an official blog post on the matter, Google’s Product Manager for Search, Pierce Vollucci, explains that the new type of featured snippet will present a panel which will list down some relevant subtopic that users will be able to explore right on the first search result page. Providing an example for the same, Volluvvi said: “When you search [emergency fund], you’ll get a quick view of information that relates to the recommended size, purpose, and importance of an emergency fund, and you can easily click the links to these relevant sources to learn more.”

The new featured snippets format, Vollucci explained, will guide users through common knowledge about the search topic, useful aspects of the topic, and relevant subtopics, to deliver the most relevant results. In a bid to further improve the user experience, Google will also be actively seeking feedback from users via the link in the bottom of the search results page.

The new featured snippets feature will be rolling out to all users over the next few days. We tried bringing up the feature using the same keywords presented in the example, but the feature doesn’t seem to be live for us now.
